A man, identified as Celestine, and his two sons have reportedly assaulted a 17-year-old boy, Samuel Onyeme for visiting his daughter, Anastasia Celestine.
News About Nigeria learned that Samuel and Anastasia are classmates, but the boy was brutally assaulted and locked in a dog cage when her father saw him discussing with her at their house around 6 pm on Sunday.
Narrating her son’s ordeal to newsmen, Samuel’s mother, Mrs. Onyeme, revealed that during the assault, his phone was confiscated, and he sustained several injuries.
She also disclosed that her daughter, who attempted to rescue her brother was also assaulted by the family.
She said, “My son, Samuel, a 17-year-old Senior Secondary student of Redeemers International High School, Asaba, Delta State, visited his classmate, Anastasia Celestine, at her residence after she invited him. My son said they were having a discussion outside the house of Mr. Celestine when he was brutally assaulted by her father and his two sons.
“They attacked him on the street, dragged him into their compound, and inflicted severe physical injuries on him. You see his head; he said they used wooden planks and locked him inside a dog cage. During the assault, they confiscated his mobile phone and deceived me into coming to the scene. Upon my arrival, I was prevented from seeing him for two hours.”
She further noted that it was only after one of her sons, Samuel’s elder brother, contacted a family friend, who then reached out to a human rights organization, that the police were mobilized to rescue Samuel from the dog cage around 10:00 pm that night.
Confirming the incident, human rights activist Victor Ojei revealed that the matter has been officially reported to the Delta State Police Command as of Tuesday.
He described the treatment of Samuel as barbaric and inhumane.
In a petition addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, Ojei called for an immediate investigation and prosecution of Celestine and his sons for kidnapping, unlawful detention, assault, and attempted murder.
He further demanded justice for the teenager and his family members who were also tortured.
