A 73 year old woman Jeriline Brady-McGinnis has died after being attacked by her own dog, a pit bull, in Massachusetts, News About Nigeria reports.

The unfortunate incident happened on Monday evening, as disclosed by the Police, who added that the deceased husband and two Boston cops were injured when they jumped in to help her.

She was gruesomely killed by her dog inside their home in Roxbury around 4:30 p.m. after which they were all rushed to the hospital.

Brady-McGinnis however did not make it as she died in surgery.

The two police officers and Brady-McGinnis’ spouse suffered non-life threatening injuries.

One of her friends, Jean McGuire, who spoke to newsmen, stated that the deceased was very close to her dogs, adding that she owned four dogs.

She added that neighbors were afraid of the dogs and claimed they were too much.

She stated, “She got attacked some way and they ripped her arm.

“She’s very close to her animals, almost like children, I think, she took good care of them. She walked them every day.

“Neighbors were afraid of the four dogs owned by Brady-McGinnis with McGuire claiming the couple had too many pets in the home.”

Brady-McGinnis’ family remembered their loved one as someone who had a “heart of gold.”

“Our mother was a loving and caring mother. She put her children first. The heart and soul of our family is gone,” her three children said.

Authorities said the dog was shot, and later put down Tuesday.

They added that the police department’s homicide unit is probing the incident because the injuries were so severe.
