The Kwara State Government on Monday warned workers in the state that they will not receive their salaries and bonuses for November if they fail to obtain a valid Residents Registration number.
News About Nigeria learned that the decision comes after workers failed to complete the registration exercise, which began several months ago.
The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) is legally empowered to collect relevant data from everyone residing in the state and allocate unique identities to each individual for effective planning, resource management, service delivery, and public safety, among other purposes.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, issued the warning in a statement released in Ilorin, the state capital, on Monday.
He said, “In line with the administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency in resource management, a directive was issued mandating all state employees, including those across the 16 local government areas, to complete their registration with KWSRRA. Effective November 2024, workers who have not registered will not receive salary payments or bonuses.”
“The KWSRRA registration is a vital step toward establishing a comprehensive and accurate database that will allow us to serve Kwara State residents more effectively. Ensuring that every state worker is registered strengthens our payroll system, enhances service delivery, and builds trust in our processes. By following this directive, Kwara State is working to create a more efficient and equitable system for both its workforce and residents.”
Nuru urged all state employees who have not yet registered to promptly visit the nearest KWSRRA registration center to complete their enrollment.
