IPMAN Calls Out NNPC Over N15bn Debt

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called out the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over a N15 billion debt, News About Nigeria reports.

The national president, Abubakar Garima, made this known while speaking on Channel TV’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday.

He noted that the NNPCL owes the petroleum marketers, and has refused to supply the product that was paid for, which is fuel.

According to him, its members have yet to load a single truck since the NNPCL increased its pump price.

Garima stated that the NNPCL has been in possession of the money for close to three months, and maintained that they will get the product for the same rate the petroleum company gets it from the Dangote refinery.

He stated, “Roughly, it is almost getting to N15bn. Our money is already with the NNPCL. It has refused to give us the product we paid for and is asking us to complete the difference.

“Our money has been with the NNPCL for almost three months now. Either they sell for us at the same rate they are getting the product from Dangote Refinery or refund us so we can buy directly from Dangote Refinery.”

It will be worth noting that after one week the NNPCL commenced loading Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, most filling stations across the country have yet to get the product.

IPMAN, in its independence message on October 1, 2024, also urged the Federal Government to allow its members to source a direct supply of petroleum products to ease the pressure in the sector.
