Lazarus Muoka, General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Ministries, has said that God has continued to do wonders in his church, despite recent scrutiny, News About Nigeria reports.
At the close of a two-day revival themed “Wonderful Move of God as of Old” at the church’s headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos, Muoka said that divine miracles remain central to the church’s mission.
The revival event, held to inspire and renew the faith of the congregation, included sessions of healing, deliverance, and testimonies of divine intervention.
Muoka encouraged his members to remain steadfast, stating, “Just as of old, God has continued to do wonders in Chosen, to the surprise of many who lack the knowledge of how God uses things of common to confirm things of great.
“Those scorning you for your faith shall be further bewildered on how God will continue to do wonders within the Christian community.
“We should not be bothered by the persecution of the world, but such should make you stronger in faith to fortify your abode in heaven and silence your mockers,” he said.
However, some recent church testimonies have drawn concern from the Lagos chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
A viral testimony from a church member claiming divine assistance during an examination, which included sharing answers with a member from another ministry, sparked controversy.
The Lagos CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, condemned the story as misleading and insisted it was a fabrication.
Following the uproar, CAN convened a meeting with representatives from the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Ministries last week at its Alausa, Ikeja secretariat, attended by over 100 leaders, including representatives from Lagos’s 57 local government areas.
During the meeting, CAN urged the church to vet member testimonies more thoroughly to ensure they uphold both truth and respect for Christian values.
Adegbite said, “God still performs miracles, but testimonies must be sensible and truthful. Leaders should ensure that testimonies shared in public are genuine and don’t bring disrepute to the faith.”
