Rivers: AA’s Uzodinma Nwafor Declared Winner Of Etche LG Poll As APP Sweeps 22 LGAs

The Action Alliance (AA) candidate, Uzodinma Nwafor, has been declared winner of the chairmanship election held in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday (October 5, 2024).

Nwafor was declared winner of the election by the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Adolphus Enebeli, on Sunday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

News About Nigeria reports that Enebeli declared candidates of the Action Peoples Party (APP) as winners of 22 chairmanship positions out of the 23 LGAs in the state yesterday night.

The winners of the 22 LGAs are; Vincent Reuben Obu – Abua/Odual LGA, Chibudom Ezu – Ahoada-East LGA, Mr Iyekor Ikporo – Ahoada-West LGA, Mrs. Tonye Oniyide – Akuku-Toru LGA, Lazarus Gogote Nteogwuile – Andoni LGA.

Others are Dr. Sule Amachree – Asari-Toru LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua – Bonny LGA, Dr. Harry Agiriye – Degema LGA, Chief Brain Gokpa – Eleme LGA, David Omereji – Emohua LGA.

Also, Monday Dumiye – Gokana LGA, Israel Abosi – Ikwerre LGA, Martins Nwigbo – Khana LGA, Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo – Obio/Akpor LGA, Prince Isaac Umejuru – Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA, Ishmael Oforibika – Ogu/Bolo LGA, Dr. Igwe Achese – Okrika LGA, Promise Reginald – Omuma LGA.

The rest are Enyiada Cookey-Gam – Opobo/Nkoro LGA, Gift Okere – Oyigbo LGA, Ezebunwo Ichemati – Port Harcourt LGA, and Matthew Nenubari Dike – Tai LGA.

Giving details on Nwafor’s win, Enebeli also announced that the APP also clinched all the 19 councillorship positions in Etche LG.

Giving a breakdown of the councillorship election, the electoral body said the APP raked in 314 seats, the All Progressives Congress (APC) – 1, Boot – 1, Labour Party – 1, Social Democratic Party (SDP) – 1, Young Progressives Party (YPP) – 1.

While describing the elections as free, fair, and credible, despite all odds, Enebeli noted that polls were closed at 3 pm and that the election recorded a large turnout of voters.

He also saluted the patriotism of the residents who turned out to vote.
