On Saturday, President Bola Tinubu tasked the Nigerian military to not relent in the fight against insecurity bedevilling the nation.

News About Nigeria reports that the president gave the charge at the combined passing out parade of the 71 Regular Course of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force in Kaduna.

At the event, a total of 823 officers were commissioned into the nation’s armed forces. The graduates included Direct Short Service Course 28 (Army) and Direct Short Service Course 32 (Air Force) Cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

According to him, the military should engage the Boko Haram insurgents, bandits, and other criminal elements with more gallantry and sophistication.

The president, who was represented at the ceremony by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also charged the military to remain focused on their operations.

He also pledged the President Tinubu-led administration’s commitment to ensuring that the military is provided with the wherewithal to carry out their assignment.

President Tinubu said: “This is with the belief that the individuals charged with the nation’s leadership will do their job. We are the giants of Africa and must remain so. Based on this, the present government remains resolute in its mandate to create better living conditions for Nigerians, and to do this, we have started taking several steps. We have identified the crux of the nation’s problems, centred on some fundamental issues.

“As a government, we are working hard to confront these problems, including associated ones, to make our beloved nation more secure and improve the quality of life of the Nigerian citizen.We need the cooperation of all Nigerians for better answers in our interest.”
