Ondo Guber: INEC Fixes November 8 For Signing Of Peace Accord

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched an online platform for accrediting media outlets and journalists to cover the upcoming Ondo State Governorship election.

News About Nigeria reports that the portal, which opens on Monday, September 9th, 2024, will close on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at midnight.

According to Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, media organisations interested in covering the election must apply through the portal.

Olumekun added that applicants should submit their requests well before the October 31st deadline.

He warned that there would be no extension of the deadline and late submissions would not be accepted.

The statement asked prospective applicants to take necessary action before the deadline.

The application portal can be accessed at (https://imap.inecnigeria.org)

Recall that in July, INEC unveiled a portal for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the Edo and Ondo off-cycle governorship elections.

The elections in the two states are slated for September 21 and November 16, respectively.

Ad hoc staff includes supervisory presiding officers (SPOs), presiding officers (POs), assistant presiding officers (APOS), RAC managers, and registration area technicians (RATECHs).

The commission said the portal opens for applications on July 15 and closes at 12 am on August 19.

”Applications are invited from qualified candidates to serve as ad hoc staff for the Edo and Ondo governorship elections in the following categories: supervisory presiding officers (SPOs), presiding officers (POs), assistant presiding officers (APOS), RAC managers, and registration area technicians (RATECHs),” the notice reads.

“Applicants must not be political party members, applicants must not have demonstrated or expressed support for any candidate or party. Applicants must reside in the state selected except for RATECHS.”
