Two people lost their lives when a two-storey building collapsed at Noman’s Land Fagge Local Government Area of Kano, News About Nigeria reports.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Coordinator, Kano Territorial Office, Dr Nuraddeen Abdullahi, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
He noted that two other persons survived the collapse but were left with varying degrees of injuries.
He stated that the agency had received a distress call in the early hours of Thursday, reporting the building collapse at Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano State.
Abdullahi disclosed that a rescue team had been dispatched to the scene immediately, adding that the team went to work reaching the victims.
The victims, according to him, include a family of four: husband, wife, and two children.
Unfortunately, two children died from the collapse while the husband and wife were rushed to the hospital.
He further noted that the search and rescue operations are still ongoing to rescue trapped persons in the building.
“The agency received a distress call today at about 2:00 a.m. from a good samaritan that a two-storey building collapsed at Noman’s Land Quarters, Kano.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene.
“Four persons rescued by our team were husband, wife, and two children; out of the victims, the two children were confirmed dead, while the couple were rushed to Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano, for treatment,” he stated.
The Kano State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, NSCDC, SEMA, and others were among the search and rescue team.
