#JusticeForChristiana: Army Arrest Suspect, Hands Him Over To Police

The Nigerian Army has arrested a 23-year-old, Adeleye Ayomide, in connection to the murder of Idowu Christianah, the abducted 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State.

Ayomide’s arrest was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday.

While confirming his arrest, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the Army, upon arrest, handed over the suspect to the police.

Hundeyin made the revelation in a post he shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle @benHundeyin on Thursday.

Sharing a photo of the suspect, he wrote, “23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”

News About Nigeria earlier reported that the deceased was kidnapped by the suspect along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Christianah was said to be undertaking her internship at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba was reported kidnapped on her way to her place of industrial attachment around the Itaoluwo area of Ikorodu when she was abducted by her kidnappers.

According to reports, the suspect killed the 300-level student even after collecting the sum of N350,000 from her family as ransom.

She was tragically found murdered and this has sparked a wave of outrage and grief within the Itaoluwo community where Christianah resided before her gruesome murder.

Also, the tragic incident has further ignited widespread outrage across Nigeria, especially on social media. Many Nigerians have taken to Twitter to demand justice for Christianah, with the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah trending.
