The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) announced on Monday the release of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 call-up letters for prospective corps members, News About Nigeria reports.
According to a series of posts on its verified X handle, the NYSC revealed that the orientation camp for this stream will begin on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, and continue until September 17, 2024.
The NYSC informed prospective corps members that due to logistical considerations, some individuals posted to Lagos will undergo their orientation in Ogun and Osun States, while those assigned to Zamfara may have their orientation in Kebbi or Sokoto States, among others.
The corps also instructed prospective members to print and sign an addendum, which is to be submitted during registration at the orientation camp.
In a related development, NYSC Director-General YD Ahmed commended corps members for their positive contributions to Nigeria’s development.
Speaking in a message to mark International Youth Day 2024, Ahmed urged corps members to focus on skill development, aligning with the government’s objectives of promoting self-employment and job creation.
He mentioned that over 3.5 million corps members have been empowered through the NYSC’s skill acquisition programmes, resulting in many of them becoming successful entrepreneurs.
The NYSC has also established partnerships with various institutions to provide grants that help corps members start their own businesses.
Ahmed praised the success of the NYSC’s skill acquisition programme and emphasised the importance of security awareness among corps members.
He also noted the international recognition of the NYSC, with Nigeria invited to participate in the 2024 International Youth Exchange Programme in India.
Additionally, Ahmed mentioned that Tanzania has expressed interest in replicating the NYSC model, with Nigeria promising to support the country in this initiative.
