Police To Investigate, Recover Stolen Cars

Investigative journalist David Hundeyin has accused the Nigerian Police Force of starving anonymous whistleblower PIDOMNigeria for six days while in detention.

The allegation follows Hundeyin’s earlier reports on PIDOMNigeria’s disappearance, which he detailed in a Substack post.

PIDOMNigeria, known for exposing high-profile government corruption through document leaks, has been a significant figure in Nigerian whistleblowing.

These revelations have reportedly embarrassed top officials and led to warnings from the presidency and other government bodies, citing the Official Secrets Act.

The whistleblower, identified as Bristol Tamunobiefiri and known by the alias PIDOMNigeria, was arrested on August 5 in Port Harcourt and transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, under the National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC).

In his latest update, Hundeyin accused the police of attempting to “end PIDOMNigeria’s life” by withholding food for six days, an act he described as a violation of international law.

He further claimed that using starvation as a form of punishment is classified as a crime against humanity and a war crime under international law.

“They also didn’t feed him for those 6 days. Most humans die after 21 days without food, meaning they literally went 30% of the way toward ending his life.

“Incidentally, using starvation as punishment is against international law, and is classed as a crime against humanity and a war crime.

“@PoliceNG committed a whole *WAR CRIME* against a Nigerian citizen whose offense was whistleblowing and journalism.”

News About Nigeria reported that the Nigerian Police Force confirmed the arrest of PIDOMNigeria, accusing him of leaking classified government documents and other cyber-related offences.

According to Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, the whistleblower faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of sensitive materials and actions that undermine the integrity of government operations.

Adejobi assured the public that the police would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
