Bandits Kill 13 In Niger State Community

A deadly raid by bandits has resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals in the Anguwan Mai-Giro community, located in the Shiroro LGA of Niger State.

News About Nigeria learnt that the community suffered the attack on Wednesday.

Yakubu Garba, deputy governor of Niger, confirmed the incident and denounced it as “satanic, insensible, atrocious and callous”.

Garba spoke in a statement by Bologi Ibrahim, chief press secretary, to the governor of Niger State.

He expressed his horror and dismay at the fact that people could commit such a heinous act against their own kind.

The deputy governor offered his sympathies to the bereaved families, residents, and the wider community of Shiroro LGA following the devastating incident.

Garba reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to reestablishing peace and security throughout the state.

He urged security forces to remain resolute and unwavering in their efforts, pledging full support in their fight against lawlessness.

The LGA Chairman, Akilu Isyaku, disclosed the killing of the 13 persons in an interview with a local radio station in Minna on Wednesday.

He said the bandits shot nine of the victims to death while four others were killed at a different location the same day.

This attack occurred at the time farmers are expected to spend more time on their farms.

It was gathered that several other farmers far away from the scene of the attack have deserted their farmland for fear of attack.

In March, a group of armed men kidnapped over 20 women during a raid on a market in the Madaka community, located in Rafi LGA, Niger state.
