Three Apprehended In Ondo For Illegal Mining, Others

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended three persons for their alleged involvement in illegal mining and armoured cable theft in the state, News About Nigeria reports. 

The Public Relations Officer of the Corps in the State, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, made this known in a statement in Akure on Wednesday.

He noted that two of the suspects, identified as Modashiru Nasiru, and Hassan Yaya, were apprehended on the 13th of August over illegal mining activities in the Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo areas of the state.

Aidamenbor added that the 18- and 19-year-olds were indulging in unlicensed mining activities.

The public relations officer further disclosed that another suspect, Aloa Segun, 40, was apprehended over armoured cable theft.

According to him, during the investigation, several items were recovered from the suspects, including armoured cables, recline cables and a generator, all valued at N3.3 million.

He also noted that the suspects will be prosecuted as soon as the investigations are concluded.

He stated, “Two of the suspects, Modashiru Nasiru, and Hassan Yaya, were apprehended on 13 August over illegal mining activities in the Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo areas of the state, involving in illegal mining activities.

“Another suspect, Aloa Segun, 40, was apprehended over armoured cable theft.

“During the investigation, several items were recovered from the suspects, including, armoured cables, recline cables and a generator, all valued at N3.3m.

“The suspects will be prosecuted as soon as the investigations are concluded.”

He, therefore, warned the people to desist from dabbling in crimes, as they would be made to face the law if caught.
