Two Chinese expatriates, Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, were reportedly kidnapped on Sunday, August 11, in the Kémta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road in Ogun State.
News About Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. as the victims left their workplace to visit friends.
The victims, affiliated with the Good One Carton Company, left the premises without notifying the company’s security, including police and military personnel stationed there.
A source close to the matter said, “Wenguang and Ding mentioned to a few people that they were heading to Kémta Village, about a kilometre away, to visit some friends.”
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the kidnapping and revealed that the kidnappers had contacted the company, demanding a ransom for the release of the expatriates.
“The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates called to inform him that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped, with the kidnappers demanding money in exchange for their release,” Odutola stated.
In response, operatives from the Ewekoro Police Division, along with local vigilantes, military personnel, hunters, and other security groups, conducted a thorough search of the Kémta Village forest.
However, despite their efforts, the victims remain missing. News About Nigeria reports that the search and investigation are ongoing.
“Our operatives in the Ewekoro Division, with the assistance of local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security groups, thoroughly searched the entire Kémta Village forest for the duo but were unable to find them,” Odutola said.
