Benue PDP To Grill Gabriel Suswam Over Alleged Campaign Fund Irregularities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has taken strict measures to address gross misconduct and anti-party activities within its ranks.

News About Nigeria reports that this is contained in a statement by Chief Bemgba Iortyom, the Benue state Publicity Secretary of PDP

The party summoned several high-profile members, including Senator Gabriel Suswam, to appear before its State Working Committee on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

The summon follows a series of allegations against the affected members, including diversion of campaign funds, sponsorship of factions and thuggery, and deliberate attempts to undermine the party’s interests.

The party’s State Secretariat in Makurdi was recently invaded by thugs and hoodlums allegedly sponsored by the suspended State Chairman, John Ngbede, and the Suswam-led group.

Senator Suswam, a former Governor of Benue State, is accused of being a spokesperson and errand runner for the APC’s Governor Hyacinth Alia, contrary to the PDP’s interests.

His actions, including drumming support for Governor Alia at public functions, have raised eyebrows within the party.

The PDP also condemned the invasion of its State Secretariat and the kangaroo meeting held by Ngbede and his cohorts.

The party warned those involved to desist from such acts or face severe punitive action.

Furthermore, the PDP has disowned a group calling itself “Concerned Benue PDP Stakeholders,” which held a press conference in Makurdi.

The party stated that it has no such group in its fold and warned those making hate speeches under the nonexistent nomenclature to desist or face sanctions.

The summoned members are expected to appear before the State Working Committee on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the party’s State Secretariat in Makurdi.

Iortyom assured that the PDP will take decisive action against erring members to protect its interests and maintain discipline within its ranks.

The statement said, ”The following members have been summoned to appear before the PDP State Working Committee: Senator Gabriel Suswam, Rt. Hon. Terngu Tsegba, Hon. Richard Gbande, Rt. Hon. Terseer Tsumba, and Prof. Nicholas Ada.”

“In addition, the Local Government Chairmen of Apa, Gboko, Gwer East, Katsina-Ala, Konshisha, Logo, Otukpo, Ukum, and Tarka have also been summoned to appear before the committee.”

The summoned members are expected to appear on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 10 am at the PDP State Secretariat located at No. 1, Ochagwu Lawani Street, New GRA, Makurdi.
