'We Will Get Out Of This Turbulence Soon,' Tinubu Begs Nigerians For More Time

President Bola Tinubu is chairing a crucial National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

News About Nigeria reports that the meeting, which is taking place against the backdrop of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests across the country, aims to address the growing security concerns and find solutions to the escalating tensions.

The meeting, initially scheduled to take place after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, has taken precedence due to the urgent need to address the security situation.

The FEC meeting, which was slated for today, has been postponed indefinitely to allow the President and his security team to focus on the pressing matters at hand.

The National Security Council meeting is being attended by all the top brass of the security and law enforcement agencies, including the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Also in attendance are the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the three service chiefs, as well as the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Other key officials present at the meeting include the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi; the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufai; the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Col. Adewale Adeniyi; and the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap.

The meeting is expected to last for several hours as the security chiefs and other officials deliberate on the best course of action to take to address the growing security concerns and restore peace and stability to the country.

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which began last week, have continued to gain momentum, with demonstrators taking to the streets to demand better governance and an end to corruption.

Despite President Tinubu’s attempt to address the nation and pacify the protesters in his Sunday broadcast, the protests have continued, with many Nigerians expressing their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the economy and other critical issues.
