Police Confirm Arrest Of Suspects Connected To Murder Of 21-Year-Old Final-Year Student

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two individuals in the Jos North local government area for attempting to vandalise and loot shops.

News About Nigeria reports that the arrest occurred on Monday, amidst a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government following an attempt to breach the peace in the state capital.

The police operatives swooped in on the hoodlums, arresting two while others fled the scene.

The command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the development, stating that the arrested individuals will be investigated and prosecuted according to the law.

Alfred emphasized the importance of enforcing the curfew, ensuring the state remains calm.

He urged the public to be vigilant and law-abiding, supporting security agents and the state government in maintaining peace.

Meanwhile, the Old Airport junction in Jos, a convergent point for protesters, was deserted on Monday.

The #EndBadGovernance in Nigeria protest had been ongoing since Thursday, but the area was empty at the time of filing this report.

Despite the curfew, protesters in Plateau state have vowed to continue their demonstrations.

The leader of the protest, Isa Elbuba, criticised the state government for imposing the curfew, stating it was an attempt to silence the voices of suffering Nigerians.

Elbuba highlighted the peaceful nature of the protests, emphasising the unity between Christians and Muslims.

He recounted how protesters shielded each other during prayers, showcasing unprecedented solidarity.

The leader dismissed an alleged incident at a restaurant as a minor issue that did not warrant the curfew. He insisted that the curfew was an attempt to demoralise and silence the young people driving the protests but vowed to continue their mission to “take back the soul of their nation.”

Elbuba urged protesters to remain peaceful and law-abiding, obeying the rules and resuming the protest after the curfew is lifted.

He reaffirmed the legitimacy of the protest, stressing the goal of ending bad governance in Nigeria and securing a brighter future for the country’s youth.

Elbuba asked Nigerians to stay calm and united, lifting the banner of Nigeria and working towards recovering the soul of their country.

He stressed that the mission will continue until bad governance ends in Nigeria.
