Terrorists Attack Foiled In Imo

The Borno State Police Command has uncovered six explosive devices in the Ajilari Cross area of Maiduguri.

According to Commissioner of Police Yusuf Lawal, the grenades were found on Friday and are believed to have been left behind by terrorist elements.

News About Nigeria reports that Lawal revealed this information during a briefing with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, providing a detailed account of the events.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Explosive Ordinance Device (EOD) team from Base 13 conducted a thorough assessment of the grenades and determined that they were designed to ignite fires.

Fortunately, the area was thoroughly screened, and the devices were recovered without incident, ensuring the safety of the surrounding community.

In a separate incident, 20 individuals were taken into custody for engaging in destructive behavior, including burning tires and inciting disturbances in Maiduguri.

These suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and investigation to ensure a transparent prosecution process.

Lawal also reported another violent incident that occurred on the same day in Bassam Galomari Village, within the Gubio II Ward of Gubio Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of Fulani herdsmen, accompanied by their cattle, entered a local resident’s farm, leading to a confrontation.

When the farm owner attempted to remove the herdsmen from his property, they resisted, and one of the Fulani men attacked the farmer, inflicting severe injuries on both hands.

The victim was immediately rushed to Gubio Hospital and later referred to Maiduguri Hospital for further treatment.

This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between farmers and herders in the region, which have led to numerous violent clashes.

In response to these incidents, security agencies have been directed to take swift action to address the crisis and restore order.

Lawal emphasized that security forces remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining public safety and preventing additional incidents.

The discovery of the explosive devices and the subsequent arrests demonstrate the commitment of the Borno Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of the community.

However, the ongoing clashes between farmers and herders underscore the need for sustained efforts to address the underlying issues driving these conflicts.
