Troops Crack Down On IPOB/ESN Camps, Neutralise Two Commanders

The Joint Task Force South-East, also known as Operation UDO KA, has launched a raid on camps belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo and Abia states.

News About Nigeria reports that the operation, which was carried out in conjunction with other security agencies, resulted in the neutralisation of two IPOB/ESN commanders and the recovery of arms and ammunition.

According to a statement released on Operation UDO KA’s social media platform, the raids were part of ongoing clearance operations aimed at deterring the activities of IPOB and ESN in the south-east and neighbouring areas.

The statement noted that the troops had been carrying out raids on IPOB/ESN camps in various communities in Imo and Abia states, and had so far neutralised two commanders and recovered several arms and ammunition.

The statement also stated that the troops had confronted and raided the camp of a notorious IPOB/ESN commander, Lucio Agu (aka B44), in the forested valley between the Umuaka, Ezioha, and Awomama communities.

During the firefight, the troops neutralised two IPOB/ESN commanders, Asari and Mazi, and recovered several arms and ammunition, including two AK 47 rifles, three magazines, and 102 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

In addition, the troops also destroyed an IPOB/ESN camp at Ezere Forest between Umuawa and Aku settlements, which spans Okigwe and Ummuneochi LGAs in Imo and Abia states.

During the encounter, the separatists fled the camp into the nearby bushes with gunshot wounds, and the troops recovered several items, including a General Purpose Machine (GPM) gun, assorted rounds of ammunition, four motorcycles, and four radios.

Operation UDO KA is appealing to the people of the South-East to continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that will help to annihilate the criminals in the region.

The Joint Task Force South-East is committed to carrying out its constitutional roles of safeguarding lives and property in line with global best practices and the rules of engagement guiding its operations.
