Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has made a commitment to ensure that his administration will not engage in favouritism when it comes to appointments.
News About Nigeria reports that this promise was made shortly after the governor administered oaths of office and allegiance to several newly appointed officials.
The newly sworn-in officials include two commissioners, the state head of service, four permanent secretaries, and 28 Special Advisers.
Governor Buni charged the new commissioners to make meaningful contributions to the development and implementation of government policies, programs, and projects.
He emphasised the importance of prudent and transparent decision-making, ensuring that the welfare of the people of Yobe State is prioritised.
With this vow, Governor Buni aims to promote fairness and accountability in his administration’s appointment process, fostering an environment of inclusivity and effective service delivery.
He charged the new commissioners to contribute positively to the formulation and execution of all government policies, programmes, and projects prudently and transparently for the benefit of the people of the state.
Addressing the new Head of Service, Hamidu M. Alhaji, the governor said the state was losing experienced hands to retirement, hence charged him to cultivate a new, effective and efficient workforce to serve people of the state.
“I want to assure you that the government would provide your office with all the necessary support to train and retrain the workforce to promote efficiency in service delivery,” Buni assured.
He also emphasised the need to promote competence and merit to make the civil service efficient and productive.
