Katsina: Police Nab Two Over Abduction Hausa Singer's Mother

The police command in Katsina said its operatives have arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of Halima Adamu, mother of Dauda Kahutu, a singer better known as Rarara.

News About Nigeria reports that Hamila, who was abducted on Friday, was reported to have gently followed the attackers when they struck at her home.

Earlier, sources close to the family disclosed that the attackers stormed the village and silently came on foot, as the villagers never heard gunshots during the operation, which “took only a few minutes”.

In a statement on Friday, Aliyu Abubakar, a police spokesperson in the state, said the two suspects were being interrogated by the authorities.

“Today, Friday, June 28, 2024, at about 0130 hrs, information was received at the Danja Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected kidnappers silently invaded the residence of one Hauwa’u Adamu, f, age 75 years, of Kahutu village, Danja LGA, Katsina State, and kidnapped her,” the statement reads.

“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Danja led a team of operatives to the scene with a view to arresting the culprits and rescuing the victim unhurt.”

Aliyu said an investigation is ongoing and further developments will be communicated.

“During investigation, two suspects were arrested for questioning. Further development will be communicated in due course as the investigation proceeds.”

Rarara is a famed political singer and songwriter in northern Nigeria, known to have put out some songs in support of Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 general election.

His songs played a significant role in mobilising supporters for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially amongst the Hausa-speaking communities in Nigeria.
