Imudia: Former Konga CEO Commits Suicide

Former Chief Executive Officer of Konga, one of Nigeria’s e-commerce giants, Nick Imudia, has reportedly committed suicide, News About Nigeria reports.

Imudia was said to have committed the act by jumping from the balcony of his apartment in the Lekki area of Lagos State on the evening of Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the sad incident to newsmen on Thursday.

“Yes, it is true. He committed the act on June 25,” Hundeyin stated.

Nick was, until his death, the CEO of D.light, a company that specialises in the distribution and financing of residential solar energy solutions and transformational household products.

It was gathered that prior to his death, he had a conversation with his brother in the US, in which he provided instructions on how to allocate his assets in the event of his passing.

Nick also had a heartfelt conversation with his young daughter from a previous relationship, reassuring her that he would always be present in her life.

According to report, he had told her that whenever she gazed up at the sky, he would be watching over her.

The former CEO, who hailed from Ika South local government area in Delta State, had previously been married to his daughter’s mother, also from the same region.

Unfortunately, their union ended in divorce due to irreconcilable differences.

Nick later found love again and remarried, this time to a woman of Caucasian descent, giving him a second chance at happiness.

Nick Imudia’s impressive career spanned various leadership roles, including Regional Director at TCL/Alcatel and General Manager/Managing Director for West and Central Africa at Microsoft Device and Services, before his stint at Konga.

His loved ones, friends, and colleagues are now grappling with the news, struggling to understand what may have driven him to take his own life, as they remember him with fondness and shock.
