The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has reportedly lost his mother-in-law, Alhaji Maryam Albishir.
News About Nigeria reports that the late Albishir died at the age of 69 after a prolonged illness.
The death of the Vice President’s mother-in-law was disclosed in a statement signed by the VP’s spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, which was released on Monday morning.
In the statement titled ‘VP Shettima’s Mother-in-Law Passes Away,’ the Presidency described the deceased as an exemplary and kind-hearted mother in her community and also a devoted Muslim.
It was further noted that she would be remembered for all her good deeds and how she was a source of blessing and inspiration to all those around her.
The statement further revealed that Hajiya Maryam would be laid to rest today (Monday) afternoon in Kano State, according to Muslim rites.
The presidency further prayed that the soul of the deceased rest in peace, adding that God would give the VP and every member of her family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The statement partly reads, “Hajiya Maryam, the mother of the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Kano, in accordance with Islamic traditions. She was respected for her wisdom, compassion, and dedication to charitable causes. Many remember her as a source of guidance and support, both within her family and in the wider community in Kano.
“The nation extends its condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajiya Nana Shettima, and their family during this difficult time while appreciating the life and legacy of the late Hajiya Maryam Albishir.”
