Electricity Tariff: Kate Henshaw Reacts To Possible Increment

Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has criticised the move by the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government to return to the old National Anthem.

News About Nigeria had reported that President Tinubu on Wednesday signed the bill seeking to change the National Anthem from, “Arise O’ Compatriots,” to “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” into law.

Following the president’s approval, both the Senate and House of Representatives swiftly passed the bill.

The move by the FG has since sparked various reactions from Nigerians.

Reacting to this swift change in a post on her official X account on Thursday, the veteran Nollywood actress said that changing the National Anthem should not be the primary focus of the Tinubu administration as there are other pressing issues Nigerians are suffering from.

This, according to her, is because Nigerians are currently experiencing economic hardship and a lack of good governance.

The actress also slammed the federal government because it is insensitive to the sufferings of the people, adding that the FG’s priority cannot in any way address the current challenges.

She further noted that the labour of past leaders is now in vain as the government has decided to go back to the colonial anthem that was dropped many years ago following the nation’s independence.

Her post reads, “In the midst of excoriating hardship & lack of good governance on every level but not to worry going back to a colonial anthem will be a soothing balm and inject patriotism back into our veins, a much needed drug. The labour of our heroes past…o ti lo.”
