NDLEA Issues Warning Against Assisting Others With Luggage, Arrests Drug Kingpins

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has stated that it is committed to the fight against drug abuse in the country, News About Nigeria reports.

The State Commander of the agency, Mr Umar Yahuza, made this known to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday.

He noted that the problems of insurgency and kidnapping are drug-induced, adding that the fight against the abuse and trafficking of drugs can put a stop to the problem of insurgency facing the country.

Yahuza also said that the agency is focused on reducing the circulation of illicit drugs to forestall usage and explained that doing this will bring about a reduction in its usage and dependence levels among people.

“All the problems of insurgency and kidnapping are drug-induced because it won’t be possible to carry out kidnapping without the use of illicit drugs.

“But we can stop insurgency, kidnapping, and other vices if we collectively fight against the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the country.

“Our focus now is to ensure that we reduce the circulation of hard drugs and its menace in Kogi and Nigeria as a whole,” he stated.

He further noted that the agency is willing to provide succour and counseling to those who need it, maintaining that those who are addicted can overcome it, be rehabilitated, and then integrated back to the society.

He, therefore, urged the state government, community and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to join the NDLEA in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking, ridding Nigeria of the menace.
