Why Ganduje Must Resign – APC Stakeholders

A group of stakeholders from the North Central zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has written to the National Working Committee (NWC) demanding the immediate resignation of the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The letter, which was signed by Mohammed Mahmud Saba, expresses a vote of no confidence in Ganduje’s leadership and calls for his removal from office, News About Nigeria reports.

The letter was copied to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

The stakeholders argue that Ganduje’s emergence as national chairman was against the spirit and soul of the APC constitution, which had zoned the office to the North Central region.

They feel betrayed and spited, as the North Central region has given President Tinubu the third highest votes in the country, which, according to them, puts them in a better position to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

The letter demands that Ganduje resign immediately and stop parading himself as national chairman and that the zoning arrangements made by the National Convention in 2022 be respected by the NEC and all other organs of the party.

“We therefore make the following demands; that Dr. Umar Ganduje resign immediately and stop parading himself as the National Chairman of our great party. That the zoning arrangements made by the National Convention in 2022, which zoned the office of the National Chairman to the North Central, be respected by the NEC and all other organs of the party,” he said.

On Sunday, Ganduje was suspended by the ward executive committee in Ganduje ward, Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The new ward exco, led by Secretary Jaafar Adamu, claims to be the authentic members of the Ganduje ward, legally elected on July 31, 2021.

This comes after two other factions emerged a week ago, one suspending Ganduje and another declaring support for him.
