Ayogu Eze: Former Senate Spokesperson Is Dead

Senator Ayogu Eze, former Senate Spokesperson, has reportedly died, News About Nigeria reports.

It was disclosed that the 66-year-old Senator, who hails from Enugu State and represented the Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 2007 and 2015, passed away on Thursday in an Abuja hospital after suffering from an undisclosed illness.

A source revealed to newsmen that the illness lasted for some time, making him unable to attend his child’s wedding ceremony held earlier in the year in Lagos State.

Eze, before his death, was one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he ran for the Enugu State governorship election.

He was also confirmed by the Senate in May 2023, alongside five others, as a federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAF).

Eze served as the chairman of the Senate Committee of Works and a member of committees on Constitutional Amendment, Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.
