Wike's Ally, Adangor Resigns As Rivers State Commissioner

The former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Rivers State, Zacchaeus Adangor, has resigned from his position after being reassigned to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Adangor, a strong ally of former Governor Nyesom Wike, cited interference with his duties as Attorney General by Governor Fubara as the reason for his resignation, News About Nigeria reports.

In his letter, Adangor stated that the governor had directed him not to defend or appear in suits against the government of Rivers State, which he believed compromised his ability to perform his duties effectively.

The resignation comes after Adangor was redeployed from his position as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) on Tuesday night, alongside another Wike loyalist, Kamalu, who was transferred to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.

The Rivers State Government, as of press time, has not provided a reason for the redeployment of Adangor and Kamalu.

Adangor and Kamalu had previously resigned in December amidst a political crisis in the state but were reinstated as part of a peace agreement initiated by President Bola Tinubu.

In his resignation letter, Adangor expressed his unwillingness to continue serving in the administration, citing the need to preserve his reputation.

Recall that Fubara, two weeks ago, warned those disrespecting him, particularly council chairmen and political appointees loyal to Wike, that they are harming their political futures.

The governor made the remark on Thursday in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni while opening a new healthcare centre in Ndoni donated by the PAMO Educational Foundation, owned by former governor Peter Odili.

Fubara insisted that he and his team wouldn’t be scared off but would stay focused on providing good services for the people.
