Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, appreciated members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for coming out in their numbers to vote for their preferred candidate in the party’s primary election that was held today (Saturday) in the state.
Unlike other aspirants, the governor noted that he was confident in the democratic process.
He further stated that, as a person, he is committed to upholding the principles of transparency and fairness in the party’s selection of candidates.
He said, “With the reports I got from other local governments, the primary has been peaceful, and I am impressed with the turnout of our people for the exercise here at home and other places. It was a successful one.
“This marks a special homecoming for me, as I express my heartfelt gratitude to my fellow constituents, esteemed party members. The tremendous turnout we witnessed here today is no surprise to me, for this is where my journey began. It is here, amidst the familiar streets and faces, where I took my first steps and received my primary education.”
News About Nigeria reported that not less than 16 candidates participated in today’s primary election, which was held across 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the state.
The aspirants who participated in today’s primary election include; Governor Aiyedatiwa, Wale Akinterinwa, Diran Iyantan, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, Dayo Faduyile, Gbenga Edema, and Jimi Odimayo.
Other aspirants are; Jimoh Ibrahim, Diran Iyantan, Olamide Ohunyeye (retd), Ife Oyedele, Soji Ehinlawo, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, Funke Omogoroye, and Morayo Lebi.
