The Oyo State Government has destroyed the building belonging to the agitators of the Yoruba Nation led by Modupe Onitiri-Abiola, News About Nigeria reports.

The State government carried out the demolition on Wednesday, in Ibadan, the state capital.

The building was said to be located on Toye Oyesola Street in the Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, CP Fatai Owoseni (retd.), confirmed the demolition, stating that other details concerning the demolition should be gotten from the State Commissioner of Police.

Recall that on Saturday, April 13, 2024, some masked persons suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators invaded the state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, to hoist their flag before they were demobilised by the joint security personnel.

Also recall that earlier today, 29 agitators of the Yoruba Nation were brought before the Chief Magistrates Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, after being arraigned by the police for their involvement in the failed invasion of the Governor’s Office and the state House of Assembly.

The agitators were arraigned on seven counts of treasonable felony, unlawful society, illegal possession of firearms, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace, in a charge with number Mi/520c/2024, and the case is between the Commissioner of Police and the 29 suspects.

The state government had vowed severe punishment for anyone who brews trouble in the state under the guise of agitating for the Yoruba nation, adding that it would go against anybody who worked against Nigeria, and it seems to be keeping to its promise.
