Bobrisky Fails To Meet Bail Conditions After EFCC Arrest

Popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, has admitted to being a man during his court appearance at the Federal High Court in Lagos State on Friday.

Despite previously identifying as a woman and triggering debates over his gender, Bobrisky finally confessed to his true sex, but in court, News About Nigeria reports.

Bobrisky is popular for his flamboyant feminine appearance.

He had prior to today claimed to have undergone surgeries to transition his gender. He even expressed readiness to bear a child at one point.

However, answering to Justice Abimbola Awogboro’s question of whether he is a man or woman, the young man promptly declared, “I am a man.”

He made the confession while receiving a six-month jail sentence for currency abuse charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge ruled that Bobrisky’s jail term would start from March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest. This followed his guilty plea to four counts of abusing the Nigerian currency.

Originally scheduled for April 9, 2024, Bobrisky’s sentencing was delayed due to a public holiday declared by the Federal Government for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Despite pleading for leniency and claiming ignorance of the law regarding currency abuse in his defense, citing his status as a social media influencer with over five million followers, Bobrisky was reminded by the judge that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

Bobrisky had last week pleaded: “My Lord, I wish that you can give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.

“I’m a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page, and I will educate people about spraying money.

“I will not repeat it again, my lord. I regret my actions, my lord. I’m a first-time offender.”

His lawyer had asked the judge to give Bobrisky a lighter punishment, like a fine, instead of jail time.

The judge however decided otherwise.
