Governor Yusuf Reappoints Official Sacked For Trolling Vice President

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has made fresh moves to investigate his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and a member of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, News About Nigeria reports.

This is as the governor inaugurated two judicial commissions of inquiry into the cases k misappropriation of public property, political violence, and missing persons between 2015 and 2023.

However, the governor said that these inquiries are not politically motivated but are driven by the desire to uphold justice and accountability on behalf of the people of Kano State.

During the inauguration ceremony held on Thursday, Governor Yusuf charged the commissions with the responsibility of thoroughly investigating and bringing to justice anyone found guilty of wrongdoing.

He said, “Political violence is a major setback to democracy worldwide. It leads to loss of lives and property as well as mistrust on the part of the people and those in power.”

“The disturbing cases of political killings, especially in 2023, must not be swept under the carpet. This is to ensure we prevent future occurrences.”

The first commission, led by Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, will focus on cases of political violence and missing persons spanning from 2015 to 2023, with a particular emphasis on uncovering the perpetrators and sponsors of such violence.

Meanwhile, the second commission, headed by Justice Faruk Lawan, has been tasked with investigating cases of misappropriation of public assets during the previous administration, both within and outside the state boundaries.

It would be recalled that last year, the online publication, Daily Nigerian, unveiled videos purportedly showing former Governor Ganduje receiving cash payments totaling $5 million from contractors.

Ganduje, however, refuted the accusations, saying that the videos were manipulated.

There have also been allegations of corruption involving Ganduje’s family members during his tenure as governor.

Meanwhile, Alhassan Doguwa was apprehended during the recent general election on charges of arson and murder.

Subsequently, he was released on bail.
