Ex-Convict Nabbed On Military Uniform In Akwa Ibom

A 25-year-old man, identified as Abba Ibrahim, has been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 22-year-old friend, Zaharadeen Iliyasi, in the neck with a knife, News About Nigeria reports.

In a statement released on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, he disclosed that a report was made to the station on March 29 regarding a case of disagreement between two friends where the suspect allegedly stabbed his friend in the neck with a knife.

“On March 29, 2024, at about 10:30 pm, a distress call was received reporting a disagreement between two friends at Chiranci Dorayi Quarters Kano, where one Abba Garba Ibrahim, 25 years old, popularly known as ‘Dan ‘Kuda’, used a knife and stabbed one Zaharaddeen Iliyasu, 22 years old, ‘m’, of the same address on his neck, and as a result, Illiyasu fell in a pool of his blood.

“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Gumel, ordered the immediate cordoning off of the entry and exit points of the state to prevent escape and directed the deployment of police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Panshekara Division, CSP Ya’u Sadiq Abdu, to the scene,” the statement reads in part.

Kiyawa also stated that the deceased had been rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where a medical doctor on duty certified him dead.

He added that the suspect, Abba Garba Ibrahim, was arrested while attempting to escape to the Niger Republic.

According to the statement, upon preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to having singlehandedly committed the act under the influence of intoxicating drugs.
