10-Year-Old Apprehended For Strangling Friend 

A 10-year-old boy, identified simply as Israel, has been apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Ejigbo Division, for allegedly strangling his friend to death during a football match in Lagos, News About Nigeria reports.

It was gathered that the unfortunate incident took place at Powerline in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State on Friday.

The state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, stated that the body of the deceased friend has been transferred to the mortuary for post-mortem examination, adding that the suspect is currently in police custody and an investigation into the incident is in progress.

A police source, however, noted that an argument had ensued in the course of the football match between the suspect and the deceased, identified simply as Ezekiel.

According to the source, Israel reached for 10-year-old Ezekiel’s neck in the process and strangled him till he lost consciousness and stopped breathing.

“A report was received on Friday from a complainant that stated that his son, Israel aged 10 was playing football with some boys at Oluwole Street, Powerline Ejigbo, where his mother’s shop is situated when he had an argument with one of the boys named Ezekiel aged 10, who held him on the neck and strangled him until he died, the source stated.

The source further noted that after a team of detectives visited the scene, where a photograph of the corpse was taken, the body was taken to the General Hospital in the Isolo area of the state where the doctor confirmed him dead.
