The Defence Headquarters (GHQ) has declared a total of 97 individuals wanted, including the factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa.
The list features various perpetrators of violent crimes across Nigeria.
Among those listed are terrorists, insurgents, and other individuals implicated in destabilising activities throughout the country.
Confirming the release of names and photographs of the wanted persons, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, called for public cooperation in locating and bringing these suspects to justice.
This announcement follows recent reports that the military was preparing to declare some people wanted.
News About Nigeria understands that, unlike previous declarations where bounties were offered for information leading to the arrest of suspects, no bounties were included in this latest announcement.
The list of wanted individuals is from regions heavily affected by insecurity.
In the North West, which has been battling banditry, 43 people have been identified, including Alhaji Shingi, Malindi Yakubu, and Dogo Gide, among others.
Similarly, in the North East, where Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents operate, 33 individuals have been declared wanted.
Notable names on this list include Abu Zaida, Modu Sulum, and Ahmad.
In the South-East and North Central regions, where there has been a rise in insurgent activities, a total of 21 individuals have been named.
Among them is Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), along with others such as Chika Edoziem and Egede.
The Defence Headquarters urged citizens to assist in providing information that could lead to the arrest of these wanted individuals.
