Ogun Responds to Pastors’ Appeal, Assures Rehabilitation Of Agbado-Oke Aro-Akute Road

The Ogun State Government has addressed concerns raised by about 500 pastors regarding the rehabilitation of the Agbado-Oke Aro-Akute Road, News About Nigeria reports.

Responding to a video that surfaced showing the pastors urging Governor Dapo Abiodun to fulfil his re-election pledge to fix the road, the state government assured that efforts were already underway to address the issue.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, on Friday, the government said that over 600km of roads had been constructed since assuming office in 2019.

It noted that half of the Alagbole-Sango Ota Road had been completed, with the remaining portion included in the current year’s budget.

Akindanya clarified that delays in executing the project were due to budgetary constraints and the increased cost of construction materials.

Akinsanya noted that the government and the clerics advocating for action on the road were aligned in their objectives to alleviate the plight of residents and improve infrastructure.

Akinsanya urged residents to fulfill their tax obligations to support the government in delivering essential services and infrastructure projects.

He called on citizens to contribute to the state’s development by paying taxes promptly.

“Rather than engage in subtle blackmail and character assassination, what we need are concerted efforts to put the economy back on track.

“The citizenry must also support the government in getting out of the economic quagmire by paying their taxes.

“Statistics show that most residents of the area are not captured in the tax net. They should support the government by paying their taxes when due to help them better.”
