Ganduje Reacts To Suspension Attempt

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has fired back at the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, following his comments about Anambra State’s political alignment with APGA, News About Nigeria reports.

Reacting to Ganduje’s comments, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Ejimofor Opara, defended Anambra’s choice of remaining with APGA, stating that despite being a minority party, the state has fared better than most states connected to the centre.

Ganduje had criticised Anambra’s lack of progress, attributing it to the state’s allegiance to APGA and its failure to align with the centre.

He pointed out that former governors who governed Anambra under APGA eventually left the party because it lacked national importance.

Opara, however, countered Ganduje’s claims, by highlighting the progress made by Anambra under APGA leadership.

He questioned Ganduje’s own track record in Kano, noting that the people of Kano rejected APC in the 2023 elections.

The APGA spokesperson stated that Anambra’s choice to remain with APGA is performance-based, citing achievements such as winning awards for ICT deployment and having the least number of out-of-school children.

“From Peter Obi to Willie Obiano and now Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra has remained on a trajectory of progressive growth, and it is for this reason even a political neophyte would state without double checking that Ganduje was either speaking to impress his host or he is sincerely ignorant of the facts.

“Anambra under APGA has remained a state of many firsts, and in recent times the state under the Soludo government has won many awards.

“Recall that Anambra has won the award as the state with best deployed ICT, and Anambra State ICT Agency under Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata won that award. Anambra has also been named as the state with the least out-of-school children record,” Opara said.

He also criticised the APC’s conduct during a recent colloquium organised by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in Anambra, where it reportedly turned into a political rally and conducted a primary election declaring Ubah as the party’s candidate for the next election.
