Julius Abure Remains LP National Chairman  - Court

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) stormed the national secretariat of the Labour Party in Abuja on Wednesday to demand the removal of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.

The workers also protested the party’s national convention planned for the end of this month.

According to the workers, their grievance is that the LP Chairman is planning to hold a “secret” convention without the input of major stakeholders.

The NLC further accused Abure of working against the Labour Party, with claims that he has plans to destroy the party.

Policemen, however, stopped the workers from protesting inside the complex of the party secretariat.

News About Nigeria had reported that the National Working Committee of the Labour Party had accused Ajaero of making desperate attempts to replace Abure.

According to them, the NLC President is not after the growth of the party, nor that of the workers he is leading but desperately wants to become the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

The LP NWC made the allegation in response to an open letter written on Friday by the political wing of the NLC, the Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission.

In the letter, the NLC raised allegations against Abure and the NWC, claiming that they had put forward plans for a national convention in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, on March 27.

The NLC also accused the LP leadership of financial rascality and contempt for the leadership of the NLC.

The convention, according to the NLC political wing, is geared towards re-electing Abure as the sole administrator of the Labour Party.
