First Lady Affirms President Tinubu’s Commitment Amid Economic Challenges

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, said on Friday that kidnappers are cowards who deserve capital punishment for all the pain they unleash on innocent citizens.

The wife of the president said this while reacting to the news of 200 women who were kidnapped in Borno State and over 280 pupils and teachers kidnapped in Kaduna State in a now-viral video on X.

She stated that kidnapping is done by people who are sick and have lost touch with humanity.

She further slammed the kidnappers for the inhumane act of kidnapping children which is gradually becoming the order of the day.

Tinubu also described the kidnappers of the schoolchildren as animals who are out to destroy the future of the nation by destroying younger generations.

She therefore called on state governors, lawmakers and security agencies to partner to put an end to the incessant kidnappings.

The first lady said, “Whoever is kidnapping young people is sick, cruel, and a coward. Enough is enough and I call on the state governors to realise that once we take hold of them, they deserve capital punishment. Why don’t they take people their size? Why are they torturing our children? What they are trying to do is kill our future. We all know parents, when we are old, we rely on our children.

“Why would you go and take them from schools? Right now, I think enough is enough. As a former lawmaker, I believe that any one of them captured deserves capital punishment. They (kidnappers) are animals, they are evil and we should take them out of our midst. The state governors and the lawmakers should do something.”

News About Nigeria reported that the kidnapping of schoolchildren and their teachers is gradually becoming the order of the day, as recently some schoolchildren and their teachers were also kidnapped on their way to school in Ekiti State.

Although the pupils and their teachers were eventually released after their families reportedly paid ransom, their abductors killed the driver of the school bus they were on before the abduction.
