Nollywood Actor Akah Nnani Calls Out i-Fitness Over Unauthorised Membership Dues

In a video posted on Instagram, popular Nollywood actor Akah Nnani slammed i-Fitness, a gym franchise with branches across Nigeria, for charging annual membership dues without his consent, News About Nigeria reports.

The actor, known for his role in ‘Man of God’, expressed disapproval of the ₦17,500 membership charge, which he claimed was deducted from his bank account without his prior authorisation.

Nnani, who frequents the i-Fitness branch in Gbagada, Lagos, revealed that in addition to the monthly subscription fee of ₦24,890, the gym imposed an annual membership due on him and other members.

He maintained that he only wanted access to the gym facilities and did not wish to become a member.

“I don’t want to be a member, I just want to use the gym and that’s what I’m paying for. Because the gym has access to my card, they impose membership dues on me and other people,” he said.

The actor accused i-Fitness of prioritising profit over customer satisfaction, alleging that the equipment in the gym is either “bad or old”.

Additionally, he said that the Gbagada branch has been “oversubscribed”, making it challenging for him to work out at his preferred time.

While i-Fitness had previously explained on its website that the annual membership dues contribute to facility improvements and enhancements, Nnani claimed that the franchise is solely concerned with financial gains and does not prioritise the well-being of its customers.

In the video, Nnani called on i-Fitness to refund the ₦17,500 deducted from his account and urged the establishment to reconsider its business practices.

The actor also asked the gym to address other issues, including staff treatment and fees charged to gym instructors.

Many have reacted to the callout, slamming i-Fitness for not delivering excellent services to their numerous customers despite charging so much.
