Theatre practitioners gathered in Iwo, Osun State, on Saturday to bid a final farewell to one of their own, Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri.
News About Nigeria reported that the actor passed away on Friday, and his body was brought to his residence in Iwo for the last rites.
Mourners, including locals and residents of Iwo, flocked to the Agbowo area where the late actor’s residence was situated, patiently waiting for the arrival of his body.
The ambulance carrying his body arrived around 11 a.m., which led to an emotional scene as sympathisers cried while witnessing the body being taken out of the vehicle.
Islamic rites were performed by Muslim clerics before his body was laid to rest before 1 p.m.
Colleagues from the entertainment industry joined the mourners while shedding tears as they bid farewell to the departed actor.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, expressed his condolences, describing the actor’s death as devastating.
In a statement, Governor Adeleke conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the actor’s immediate family, the people of Iwoland, the film industry, and everyone impacted by the loss.
Meanwhile, Olawale B, the Chief Executive Officer of Fathia Entertainment, revealed that the late actor had secured a United States visa before his passing.
The CEO, also a show promoter and tour manager, shared this information on Instagram.
Sisi Quadri attended his primary and secondary school education in Ore, Ondo State, and moved back to Osun, his hometown, to study Arabic and Quran because his father wanted him to be a Muslim cleric.
He later attended a fashion school where he learned fashion design and finished in 1999.
Oyebamiji’s contribution to the Yoruba film industry will be remembered, and his legacy will live on through his impactful performances on screen.
