Why Ganduje Must Resign – APC Stakeholders

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, said on Saturday that he was confident that the party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, would win the election.

Speaking during the presentation of certificate of return to Okpebholo today, Ganduje noted that, the party made the right decision by producing Okpebholo as its candidate for the Sept. 21 Edo governorship poll.

The National Chairman of the party also called on other aspirants and party members to come together to ensure the party’s victory in the state.

In his own words, “The full cooperation, harmony and unity of all aspirants and members of our party is all we need now to win Edo in the coming election now that the primary is over.

“The party has a product that is refined, well packaged, and sellable to the electorate in the person of Okpebholo and is therefore ready to win Edo.”

News About Nigeria reported that the APC Primary Election Committee, led by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on February 17, 2024, declared Dennis Idahosa as the winner of the Edo Governorship Primary Election.

However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC had upturned Idahosa’s election, declaring the election inconclusive.

The committee then rescheduled a supplementary election, which was held on February 21, 2024, with Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River as chairman of the Primary Election Committee.

After the election, Otu announced Okpebholo, who currently represents Edo Central at the National Assembly, as the winner of the supplementary primaries.

According to Otu, Okpebholo secured, 12,433 votes to defeat 11 other aspirants in the party’s primary election.
