Labour Party Reacts To The Suspension Of Nat'l Chairman Julius Abure

On Saturday, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, congratulated the winner of the party’s primary election in Edo State, Olumide Akpata, noting that it was a win well deserved, News About Nigeria reports.

In his congratulatory message released by his media team today in Abuja, Abure noted that he is confident that the LP candidate would win the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, which is slated for September 2024, because he is the best among all the other candidates from other political parties.

While lauding other members of the party for their conduct during the primary election and for embracing peace, Abure charged them to do away with any form of bitterness by coming together to support the chosen candidate.

The statement partly reads, “I therefore want to congratulate the winner of the primary election, Olumide Akpata, for recording the highest number of votes, which made him the candidate of the party. I want to assure him of all our support to ensure that we win the governorship election in September 2024. We will not rest on our oars until that is achieved.

“We believe that Edo State at this point in time needs the best of the bests to man the Osadebey Avenue and today, Labour Party has selected one of its bests as the candidate of the party. If you juxtapose him with all other candidates that have emerged from the other political parties, it is clear that he stands out. We therefore congratulate him and we all will work towards the success of his candidacy in governorship election.”

According to the result released by the party, Akpata, who is a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, won with 316 votes to beat his closest rivals, Ken Imasuangbon and Prof Sunny Eromosele, who scored seven votes each.
