A fire has engulfed a one-story building at number 36, Awolowo Way, under the bridge at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.
News About Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred around 9:45 am on Wednesday, just hours after a gas tanker explosion rocked the Iju-Ishaga area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the building, which serves as a store for various businesses in the bustling Computer Village, suffered extensive damage.
Traders in the vicinity were seen attempting to salvage their goods as the flames raged.
Thankfully, no casualties have been reported, and officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service quickly responded to the scene.
The director, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that the situation is under control.
She said that the fire, which originated on the ground floor, has been contained, preventing it from spreading to upper levels or nearby structures.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.
“The fire has been confined to the ground floor; it emanated from ongoing efforts to access the seat of the fire and curtailed it from spreading to the upper floor and nearby structures within the smoke log environment.
“The cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained. There is no casualty recorded so far,” she said.
In January, fire razed the building of a popular Lagos church, Household of David, which is located in the Ikeja Local Government Area of the state, with hours left until its annual “Mercy Conference”.

According to the Lagos State Fire Service spokesperson, Amodu Shakiri, who confirmed the incident, the fire was caused by the overheating of the church’s auditorium ceiling.
He said that the ceiling collapsed and ignited the fire that razed the building due to overheating.
