Aiyedatiwa Vows To Eradicate Crime In Ondo

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has vowed that his government will spare no effort to eradicate crime and criminal activities and will continually provide security agencies with the necessary logistics.

News About Nigeria gathered that the governor made these remarks on Tuesday during the presentation of the instrument of appointment and staff of office to the Larogbo of Akotogbo, Oba Michael Akinfolarin, in the Irele Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Olayide Adelami, Aiyedatiwa declared that ensuring adequate security is important for the development of any community.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to enhance the effectiveness of security agencies in the state in the fight against criminals.

He assured that his administration would work tirelessly to rid the state of miscreants and criminals.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said that his administration will strengthen the Amotekun Corps by providing equipment, and supporting other security agencies in the state with regular logistical assistance.

He stressed that his government cannot tolerate a situation where citizens cannot conduct their daily activities in a safe environment.

The governor called on traditional rulers in the state to exercise restraint and caution in using their traditional authority and powers.

He said that these powers should be employed to strengthen the bond of love and unity among their subjects.

Aiyedatiwa noted that the unity of the people in every community is a great asset that must be used for the socioeconomic development of their respective areas.

Congratulating Oba Akinfolarin and the people of Akotogbo, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged all contestants for the stool to collaborate with the new monarch for the accelerated development of the town.

In response, Oba Akinfolarin expressed appreciation to the governor and pledged to administer his people with fairness and a sense of responsibility.

The Akotogbo stool became vacant following the passing of the late Oba Jolade Turoti on May 20, 2009.
