Police Arrest 400 Suspected Criminals In Lagos Crackdown

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the successful arrest of approximately 400 suspects in various black spots across the state in the past month, News About Nigeria reports.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrests to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.

He said that several units, including area commands, the Rapid Response Squad, and police tactical teams, participated in executing the extensive raids.

Hundeyin said that the arrests were prompted by increasing complaints and intelligence reports pointing to the involvement of suspects in various criminal activities.

Hundeyin assured the public that the sustained raid would continue until miscreants were cleared from the state.

“This raid will be sustained till Lagos State is rid of miscreants,” he stated.

Hundeyin said that those arrested would undergo discreet investigations, and individuals found culpable would face prosecution.

He added that the police are determined to maintain the momentum of these operations to ensure the safety and security of residents in Lagos State.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have successfully arrested the suspected leader of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate, identified as Ndubisi George, aged 49.

The term ‘one chance’ is commonly used in Nigeria to describe a type of robbery where criminals, posing as commercial drivers, pick up unsuspecting passengers to rob them during the journey.

According to the statement, George is believed to be the mastermind behind a robbery syndicate operating in the Itire, Aguda, Cele, and Surulere areas of Lagos State.

In the course of the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a grey Toyota Camry from the suspect.

The arrested suspect, Ndubisi George, has been arraigned and remanded in prison until March 18, 2024, for the continuation of the legal proceedings.
