NDLEA Convicts Multiple Drug Users In Kano

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of a 42-year-old man, Ahmad Mohammed, allegedly responsible for supplying drugs to terrorists in Borno State, News About Nigeria reports.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the arrest is part of a broader operation that led to the arrest of 24 suspected drug traffickers and dealers by NDLEA operatives.

Mohammed was apprehended at a checkpoint in Borno State on Friday, February 9.

NDLEA operatives searched his luggage, leading to the discovery of 20,000 capsules of tramadol, an opioid substance.

The suspect was reportedly en route to deliver the illicit drug consignment in Banki, a border region between Nigeria and Cameroon.

In another operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted a truck with the registration number Lagos JJJ 64 YC, transporting 367 jumbo bags of cannabis sativa weighing 4,037 kilogrammes from Akure, Ondo State, to be delivered to the Shabu area in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

Three suspects—Shuaibu Yahaya Liman (35), Monday Audu (33), and Linus Samuel (42)—have been arrested in connection with the seizure.

Additionally, two suspects, Jibrin Shuaibu (23) and Prosper Innih (17), were apprehended in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with 169 bags and 80 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 1,961.5 kilogrammes.

A follow-up operation led to the arrest of Abdulhameed Dauda (27), transporting 89 kilogrammes of the same psychoactive substance from Owo, Ondo State, to Gwagwalada in FCT.

The agency also intercepted Hassan Ade (30), transporting 696.5 kilogrammes of the substance from Idoani, Ondo State, to Gwagwalada and Dei-Dei in FCT.

A mother of three, Mrs. Joy Chukwuka (42), linked with the consignment, was also arrested.

The NDLEA reported other drug-related arrests and seizures in Ondo, Edo, and Kano states.
