10-Year-Old Apprehended For Strangling Friend

The suspected killers of a commercial motorcyclist identified as Shola Olarewaju have been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command, News About Nigeria reports.

The state police public relations officer, Omolola Odutola, made this known to newsmen, stating that the suspects, simply identified as Danjuma and Victor, fled after killing the motorcyclist.

The incident was said to have happened on January 28 in Alago Meji Street, Isara-Remo, Ogun State, where it was believed that the suspects strangled the deceased.

The police also disclosed that the suspects were fleeing the town with Olarewaju’s motorcycle after killing him when they were challenged by a member of a local vigilante.

Odutola stated that upon interrogation by the vigilante member, the suspects lied that they were on their way to the house of their employer, adding that when the vigilante member was not satisfied with their response, he ordered them to take him with them to their employer’s house, to which they agreed.

She noted that upon getting to the house, the suspects abandoned the deceased’s motorcycle and fled.

Their employer, identified as Sekinah Awosanya, however, told the police that she was the one who brought the suspects from Osun State to the community to work on her farm.

“I brought them from Osun to Isara to work on my farm. Danjuma and Victor are both of northern extraction. They have been staying in our second house at Itakete in Isara with Shola Olarewaju, who is a commercial motorcycle,” she said.

Odutola stated that after efforts to find Danjuma and Victor proved abortive, Awosanya took the security men to the house the suspects had been staying in, where they found Olarewaju’s body on the floor.

She said the victim’s hands and legs were tied behind him and that Olarewaju was suspected to have been strangulated by the suspects.
