Gunmen Kill Police Officers In Imo

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects in connection with cult clashes in various parts of the state, News About Nigeria reports.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday.

She noted that four people were also killed in the clashes between rival cults, including one Seun Elewode, a member of the Aye cult group, who was killed during a shootout in the Adeun area of Lafenwa, Abeokuta, and another yet-to-be-identified member of a buccaneer confraternity who was also killed in the Akinolugbade area of the town.

“On February 4, around 10.45 p.m. in Oshungboye Crescent in Akinolugbade, a suspected cultist was shot dead, while another was shot in the chest,” she said.

According to reports, the clash started on Thursday when a suspected leader of the Eiye Confraternity, simply identified as Dare, was shot dead in front of his house in the Ijeja area of Abeokuta, Abeokuta South Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, a police source stated that Dare, who was known as Oloba, was killed on Thursday, while another suspected cultist commonly called Tayo Alora was also murdered in the Isabo area of the state capital on Sunday morning.

A resident who pleaded anonymity lamented that the clashes were becoming scary and called on the government to intervene to avoid them becoming worse and threatening the peace and safety of the people.

The Ogun State PPRO, however, confirmed that 11 people have been arrested in connection with the killings.
